My, my, my….I’m used to all the sounds in here now. Very unlike the outside, and my former life. At least, I do have peace and quiet when the last one leaves. Even if it’s only until they return. Then there are varying levels of cacophony to abide. Many times, who ever comes in first turns on a voice expounding on this subject or that…unapologetically dogmatic …and so loud that the barman can hear it wherever he may be. And I hear it magnified 100x. For one instant, I would like him to experience a heightened sense of hearing. Maybe then, a small amount of consideration for others might surface.
Though they make quite a din, human voices are becoming more customary to me…and music played by a cast of characters…and, for the most part, played well, unless the musicians try to play louder than the humans’ voices and then it just becomes double trouble.
One of the least offensive ones …to his credit – he is often silent…who plays a big bass instrument, is said to be running for Mayor. Others on stage announce that fact. I don’t know how to go about it, but, that one, he has my vote. Maybe if he is Mayor, he’ll implement a noise ordinance for inside this place. Silence is golden …and silver and bejeweled and be-dazzled, if you get my drift. And, apparently, rare.« Back to Listing
